What is the hazard with PCL Push Button Safety (PBS) Coupling (2605-0179)?
PCL Push Button Safety (PBS) Coupling (2605-0179) (PCL) was announced earlier this year, in the "Pressure equipment / vessels - Industrial Pressure Equipment and Replacement Parts/Accessories" category. The product presents a risk of injuries because the internal mechanism can jam open if the adaptor is inserted sufficiently ”out of line.” This allows mains air pressure to flow through the coupling while the adaptor remains unlatched. This product is not compliant with the Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. That is the hazard as reported publicly by the firm and the regulator; it does not necessarily mean every unit has failed.
What should you do if you own this product?
The product has been withdrawn from the market pending a redesign. Safety instructions have been updated. A Safety Alert has been issued to the Distributor Network for onward communication. This Alert can be viewed here: Push Button Safety Coupling - Safety Alert - PCL Contact the firm directly using the official recall page linked below for the exact remedy steps.
