What is the hazard with Electric Motorbike (2606-0275)?
Electric Motorbike (2606-0275) was announced earlier this year, in the "Motor vehicles (including spare parts) - Motorcycles" category. The product presents a serious risk of fire because it is supplied with a two-pin plug that cannot incorporate a fuse and therefore does not meet the requirements of BS 1363. In the event of a fault or overcurrent, there is no adequate protection, which may lead to overheating and a risk of fire. Additionally, improvements are required to the documentation, markings, and instruction manual. A valid Declaration of Conformity was not supplied with the machinery. The product does not meet the requirements of the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008 or the Plugs & Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994. That is the hazard as reported publicly by the firm and the regulator; it does not necessarily mean every unit has failed.
