What is the hazard with Automatic Electric Gel Ball Blaster sold via DHGate, eBay and OnBuy (2512-0121 and 2606-0230)?
Automatic Electric Gel Ball Blaster sold via DHGate, eBay and OnBuy (2512-0121 and 2606-0230) was announced earlier this year, in the "Toys – Water Beads" category. The product presents a serious risk of asphyxiation because it contains water beads. If these products are swallowed in their hydrated form, they can block a young child’s airway. OPSS has published a Product Safety Alert for water beads, which can be accessed at: https://www.gov.uk/product-safety-alerts-reports-recalls/product-safety-alert-water-beads-psa7 The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011. That is the hazard as reported publicly by the firm and the regulator; it does not necessarily mean every unit has failed.
What should you do if you own this product?
The listing has been removed by the online marketplaces (DHGate, eBay and OnBuy). Owners are advised to stop using the product immediately and keep it out of reach of young children.
