What is the hazard with Various Battery-operated Light Up Toys?

Various Battery-operated Light Up Toys was announced earlier this year, in the "Other" category. The recalled toys violate the mandatory safety standard for children's toys because the toy contains button cell batteries that can be easily accessed by children. If button cell or coin batteries are swallowed, the ingested batteries can cause serious injuries, including internal chemical burns, and death. This falls under one of the more serious hazard categories (injury, choking or strangulation risk), so the recall covers every unit sold, not only units with a reported incident.

What should you do if you own this product?

Consumers should stop using the toys immediately, take them away from children and contact ZMC Group for a full refund. Consumers will be asked to remove the batteries, break each component in half or write "RECALLED" or a large "X" on the product with a permanent marker, and submit a photo of the destroyed/marked pieces to recallzmctoy@gmail.com. Note: Button cell batteries are hazardous. Batteries should be disposed of or recycled by following local hazardous waste procedures. Sold at: Various discount stores nationwide from May 2023 through April 2026 for about $1.. If you bought it somewhere else, the remedy above still applies — contact the firm directly using the official recall page linked below.

How many units are affected?

About About 124,560 units of Various Battery-operated Light Up Toys are covered by this recall, according to the official count reported by the firm to the regulator.
